COME & JOIN US! We're looking for a part-time sales assistant/barista with a genuine interest in craft beer and natural wine plus an interest in making the best coffee in town.
Hop Burns & Black is an award-winning bottle shop, specialising in craft beer, natural wine, hot sauce and more, with two South London branches and an online warehouse. In 2020 we added takeaway coffee to our offering at our Peckham/East Dulwich branch, working with South London-based specialty coffee roastery Lomond Coffee, and quickly gained a reputation for terrific coffee.
Our ideal candidate will be local to our stores and weekend availability is essential. Most important is an interest in the products we sell and a desire to share this enthusiasm with our customers. Ideally you'll have barista experience in specialty coffee, but this is also something we're happy to teach you.
You'll need to work well as part of a team and should feel comfortable chatting to customers about the range of products we sell. You’ll have an existing interest in craft beer and wine, although experience working in this field is not needed as full training will be given. A friendly personality and great sense of humour is a given!
Our coffee set-up is a 2 Group La Marzocco Linea Classic and our baristas are all confident in pulling consistently high quality espresso, steaming milk and pouring latte art (we use Estate Dairy milk and Minor Figures Oat M*lk). Again, experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided - what we're looking for is keenness and enthusiasm for specialty coffee.
The role is part-time, around 12-15 hours a week and comprises mostly weekend work at our Peckham/East Dulwich store and we're looking for someone to start as soon as possible. Ideally our candidate will also be able to work a short shift (or even two) at our Deptford shop as well.
