Hop Burns & Black is the brainchild of Jen Ferguson and Glenn Williams, both born in New Zealand but long-term South London residents. The shop first entered the world in November 2014 as a celebration of the world's three greatest obsessions - craft beer (the Hop), hot sauce (the Burns) and vinyl records (the Black - although vinyl has now been replaced with coffee), along with equally obsessive good things like natural wine, cider and small batch spirits.
Now, with our terrific team, we have two shops in SE London, plus our online store which sends the best things in life all over the UK. Along the way, we've picked up a bunch of gongs and accolades, published an award-winning beer and food cookbook, and been cited by everyone from the Guardian to the Standard to the FT (viva el lager revolution!) to Forbes to TVNZ, and not forgetting the good old Peckham Peculiar and Dulwich Diverter...
We're obsessed about having the UK's best selection of craft beer, hot sauce, natural wine, cider etc, but we're also insistent about doing this ethically and sustainably. We proudly fly the flag for independent business and ensure we only stock products from independent, ethical suppliers. We also work hard to keep our environmental footprint as low as possible - using our 100% electric, zero emissions "flagon wagon" for deliveries, working with renewable energy suppliers and reusing, reducing and recycling at every step.
