Our friend Steve from the Beer O'Clock Show has created a fantastic initiative to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. It's called Big Beery Night and rather than asking people to give up beer for charity, it invites us to celebrate all that is great about beer while raising money at the same time.
To get involved on Friday 25th September, simply choose a beer, drink it, Tweet/Instagram it using #BigBeeryNight as the hashtag and donate the cost of it to Macmillan via this Just Giving page. You can also take part in the #bigbeerynight Twitter auction.
Naturally we are all over this from the beer side of things, but we wanted to do a little more. We'll have a collection jar running in store throughout Friday 25th, as well as some eBay auctions.
Earlier in 2015, we bought a bunch of records from Steve - these records belonged to his mum, who sadly passed away from cancer at the start of the year.
Among these records were some early Beatles records - kept in wonderful condition by Steve's mum. It seemed only right that we used these to support the cause, so we've decided to put these up for auction and donate 100% of the proceeds to charity. The eBay links below go live at 8pm Tuesday 15th - they will be 10-day auctions concluding on Friday 25th September to coincide with #BigBeeryNight. You can also find them by searching for #bigbeerynight on eBay. A great chance to get amazing records for an amazing cause. Dig deep, spread the word.
